This is pretty much long overdue, but I've decided to put up an updatable FAQ for 9talia! This will get updated with each new part of the game I release, with answers to the most frequently asked questions. I'm also thinking of adding a spoiler-free walkthrough so you all can solve the puzzles without having to go through spoilers about the story but we'll see...

Although, a lot of these can be answered with "READ YOUR FILES!"

Q: Why won't the briefcases open, no matter what I do?!
A: Part of the puzzles in 9talia is to use what you find on the environment around you. To do that, face what you want to open and press the A key. This will open a mini window at the top of your screen that shows your inventory. Press the S/D keys to switch between regular items and key items, and select an item to use it.

Also, make sure you have the Red Key before you do that, you can't miss it.

Q: How do you figure out the combination lock on the door?
A: When you get the green cards, you also get a file on Digital Roots. Basically, you keep adding each digit of a number together, until you get a final, single-digit number. That number is the digital root.

One example given in the file is: Find the digital root of 1,234.

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10
1 + 0 = 1

Therefore, the digital root of 1,234 is 1.

Once you have both the red and green cards, you can find the combination to the door. The number on the door is a clue to the combination. You have to find the right numbers out of your keycards that makes a digital root of that number.

Of course, you can always brute-force your way out using a digital root calculator.

Q: I still don't get this digital root thing...(spoiler ~ contains the answer)
A: There are three cards - three numbers - you need for the door, and you can put them in any order. The only numbers you have in your possession are 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8 (from the keycards). You need to make a digital root of 5 using three of those numbers.

The only correct combination is 1, 6, 7 because:

1 + 6 + 7 = 14
1 + 4 = 5

and that matches the number on the door.

I realize it's a bit confusing in the demo but it's made a lot more obvious in the
new version.

Q: This looks like a great game! Can I make a Let's Play of it?
A: By all means, go ahead! Just link it back here so I can add it to the list so others can easily watch it.

Q: I finished the demo and it was really awesome! When's the next part coming out?
A: Unfortunately, like many RPGMaker Hetagame creators, I don't work by a set schedule/deadline and it's pretty much defined on my available free time and if I'm already working on other games. I do, however, have an awesome group of friends helping me with this project, which is a big help! 9talia also has its own dA group if you're so inclined to watch or join for updates, or even lend a helping hand!

Q: But what's in the next version?
A: The next version to release is version 1.0, which will include a little more of the plot, more characters, and will be the first of many crossroads in seeking escape - and the truth - from the nations' confinement onboard. Yes, you heard right: the storyline is influenced by player choice, and in the full version will be replayable! Make sure you choose wisely...

If there seems to be other questions that pop up regularly, I'll add them here. Otherwise, enjoy, and I hope this helped!
